Conference Day!

AAUW recognizes that one way to empower women, is to make sure that girls have a wide variety of education and career options.  Historically, women have been under represented in many STEM fields.  In some professions, this has improved, but women are still a minority in tech and engineering fields.  The beginning of high school is a critical time for young women to make choices about their education that can affect their high school, college and careers.  Exposure to career and education options along with a message of empowerment and confidence are vital at this stage.

Redlands STEM Conference at University of Redlands

are hosted at the University of Redlands.  Our inspiring Keynote speaker conveys  the message that girls can accomplish their goals with good planning and persistance. Our AAUW volunteers reinforce that we believe in each girl and want to help them succeed.  The Conference speakers relate the excitement of STEM careers and the need for math and science as a foundation.

In addition, each year the Banning/Beaumont group sends 3-4  seventh grade girls  to AAUW CA’s week-long summer STEM program, Tech Trek.

2017 Redlands STEM Conference Committee

Join AAUW and join our Conference Committee – Organizing, logistics, hosting presenters, mailings – you name it, we have it! Monthly meetings at member houses let us share ideas and friendships over snacks.

Adopt a Girl – It takes close to $20 per girl to host the conferences.  You can help make it possible for 300 girls from Banning -Beaumont and 600 girls from Redlands-Yucaipa.    Consider “adopting” a girl by donating $20.  How about adopting more than one? See our mailing address for donations below.
