Our Interest Groups are all listed below. See our current copy of newsletter for specific meeting dates, times, and contact person.
Bridge is a game—-have fun!—but practice is the key to improvement. Our branch has many types of groups in place for those interested in playing bridge. There are 3 AAUW bridge groups and 4 community groups (that welcome AAUW members). There are both afternoon and evening sections. The two Saturday groups involve couples and/or pairs. Check the branch newsletter for the contact person and updates.
California Cuisine and Conversation
Join us for our monthly meals where everyone comes with a dish. We are an interest group dedicated to good food and lively conversation. Our gatherings are mixers, with casual seating, and are not formal sit down dinners. We are women who cook! Prepare your favorite recipe or try a new one and join us for a casual get-together. The food is always great and the conversation interesting. All members, single or with significant others, are welcome.
AAUW has many ways for women to learn more about what is going on in the world and to get involved, both on the local and national level. Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. The briefing book is published by the Foreign Policy Association and highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans today. Beginning in February, the group meets for 8 weeks for stimulating discussions. Meets 1 pm Monday & 7 pm Wednesday. Click here for the 2016 Discussion Schedule
Hiking our Hills and Mountains
This group explores the scores of trails in our local hills and San Bernardino Mountains. The hikes range from 2-4 miles and occur on Wednesday or Saturday mornings, 2-3 times per month. The location is determined about a week in advance and anyone, including friends and spouces, are welcome to join in the hike.
Our group sets up a series of topics presented by members, and we have a grand time discussing all aspects of the subject. Lunch time weekday meetings are generally the 3rd Wednesday every month from 12-2pm at Trinity Episcopal Church.
International Affairs meets for brunch at the Mitten Building on the last Tuesday of the month, 9am. A different country is featured each month. Presenters are either members who have recently visited the country, or local residents who grew up in the country. Come get inspired for you next travel opportunity! A reservation is needed for the brunch.
Reading and the Rainbow
Start reading! Join us for a discussion of a selection of interesting books. We read mostly fiction, but choose at least one non-fiction and one classic each year. Enjoy friendship and community among women while sharing ideas, experiences, and learning from one another. We generally meet the fourth Thursday of the month with an afternoon and evening session to choose from. 2015-16 Book List and Meeting dates
The recorder group is an ensemble of recorder players who play all sizes of recorders and occasionally perform at local events. We are most happy to have new players. If you would like lessons it can be arranged. Join us Monday mornings from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m year-round.
Banning/Beaumont Pass Area Group
Informative and fun group for members in the Pass Area. We have members further away from Redlands who have alternative meetings in Banning and Beaumont. This group hosts a STEM Conference for 8th grade girls in the Banning and Beaumont Schools at Mt. San Jacinto College and chooses local 7th grade girls to send to Tech Trek. These activities are made possible through the efforts of our group in obtaining funds from individuals and groups in the Pass community. Click here to learn more.
