Adult Literacy & Conversational English

The Redlands Adult Literacy Program, sponsored by the Friends of A. K. Smiley Public Library, provides professional tutoring in reading and writing English to adults, 18 years and older, seeking help in our community.  This year, the AAUW will also assist adults seeking help in conversational English with the new CHAT program. CHAT stands for: Conversation Helps Adults Transition.  We connect AAUW volunteers with adult learners to help the learners practice their conversational English, meeting at a time convenient to both the English learner and AAUW volunteer. The CHAT volunteers meet with the English learners and discuss their conversational goals, mutual interests, and future meeting times.

During the summer our members are ushers for a Redlands Bowl performance.

Y-Alliance Home Tour

For many years AAUW has assisted the Y Alliance with their annual Holiday Tour in December by hosting a home.

This is a wonderful way to assist the Y Alliance with their big fundraiser. The money raised goes to support the Y’s Legal Aid program, which provides legal services to low income clients, primarily women.   Your gift of time and energy makes you feel good and serves a wonderful cause.
